Applying for a job in Poland

Poland runs one of Europe's largest tech job markets, and most of it never appears on LinkedIn. Two things decide whether your application is even readable: a consent clause that is a legal requirement rather than a formality, and whether the CV is in the language the role was posted in.

Which language should the CV be in?

Tech roles at international companies usually accept an English CV. Almost everything else โ€” and most roles at Polish companies โ€” expects Polish. If the posting itself is in Polish, treat that as the answer.

The RODO clause is not optional

Polish employers process your application under GDPR โ€” RODO in Polish. Without a consent clause on the CV, many recruiters are not permitted to keep or review your application at all, so it is discarded without a reply. This is the single most common reason a technically strong CV disappears in Poland, and applicants from outside the country almost never know about it.

One sentence at the bottom of the CV is enough. It must reference GDPR / Regulation (EU) 2016/679. Vacario appends it automatically if your CV doesn't already carry one โ€” in any language.

Polish characters have to survive the PDF

ล‚ ฤ… ลผ ฤ™ รณ ล› ฤ‡ ล„ are not decoration โ€” they are in your future colleagues' names and in the job titles. Plenty of CV builders quietly replace them with question marks or boxes when exporting to PDF, which makes a Polish-language CV look careless before anyone reads a word of it.

Applicant tracking software reads first

Larger Polish employers screen with ATS before a person sees anything. Single column, no text in headers or footers, no tables holding your job history, a real text layer rather than an image. Anything clever with the layout is a risk.

Common questions

Do I need the RODO clause on my CV in Poland? +

In practice, yes. Polish employers process applications under GDPR (RODO), and without a consent clause many recruiters are not permitted to review or store your CV, so it is dropped without a reply. A single sentence referencing Regulation (EU) 2016/679 is enough.

Should my CV be in Polish or English? +

Follow the language of the job posting. Tech roles at international companies commonly accept English; most other roles, and most roles at Polish companies, expect Polish.

Which job boards should I use in Poland? +

justjoin.it, NoFluffJobs, theprotocol, Bulldogjob, SolidJobs, inhire and RocketJobs for tech, and pracuj.pl for everything else. LinkedIn alone covers a small share of the market.
